Statement of Faith

The Truth Table Christian Church is rooted in the Bible, the historic creeds of Christianity, and the confessions found in the early church, including the apostolic confession preserved in 1 Corinthians 15. We incorporate theological elements from the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed to complement what the Bible affirms. These are rooted in the teachings of the Holy Scriptures and consistent with the historic confessions of the universal Christian church. We affirm these truths as the foundation of our faith, worship, and mission, which is why we affirm the following core Christian beliefs.

The Holy Scriptures (Bible)
  • We believe the Scriptures of the Holy Bible (Old and New Testament) are the inspired, infallible, sufficient, and authoritative Word of God (Sola Scriptura). The Bible is God’s revelation to humanity and serves as the final, highest, and ultimate authority for doctrine, faith, and practice. It is trustworthy in all that it teaches and sufficient for the life of the believer.

The One True God
  • We believe in one God, the Creator of heaven and earth, eternally existing in three persons (trinity): God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three persons are co-equal, co-eternal, and of one divine essence. The Lord our God is holy, just, loving, sovereign, and worthy of all worship and obedience (Soli Deo Gloria). We believe God is the sovereign Creator and sustainer of all things. He governs the universe with wisdom and righteousness and lovingly calls humanity into relationship with Himself.

Jesus Christ
  • We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who is fully God and fully man. He was born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and perfectly fulfilled the will of the Father. Jesus lovingly and willingly suffered and died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of the world and the salvation of those who believe. Jesus was buried, rose from the dead, appeared to many witnesses, and ascended into heaven, where He reigns. Jesus Christ will return personally, in glory and visibly, to judge the living and the dead; the dead will be raised; believers will inherit eternal life; evil will be judged; and God will establish His eternal and everlasting kingdom. Christ alone is the mediator between God and humanity (Solus Christus).

The Holy Spirit
  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. Through the Spirit, believers are transformed into the likeness of Christ. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates those who believe, indwells all believers, sanctifies and empowers the church, distributes spiritual gifts for the building up of the body of Christ, and leads to real transformation.

Humanity’s Sin and Salvation
  • We believe that humanity was created in the image of God and designed to live in fellowship with Him. However, through disobedience and sin, humanity fell from its original state and became separated from God. All people are sinners by nature and by choice and are in need of redemption. When there is true repentance (metanoia) and commitment to try to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Christ, there is redemption. Thus, through repentance, we receive forgiveness of sins and salvation. Salvation is the gracious gift of God’s love and cannot be earned through human effort or works. Salvation is accomplished through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and is received by grace through faith alone (Sola Fide & Sola Gratia). Those who repent of their sins and trust in Christ are forgiven, justified, and reconciled to God. Through Christ, believers receive new life and eternal hope.

The Church
  • We believe the church is the body of Christ composed of true believers who find themselves in the sanctification process. The church exists to worship God, proclaim the unadulterated Gospel, make disciples, train and equip believers for ministry, study the Bible, demonstrate the love of Christ to the world, make a difference, and impact lives through teaching, fellowship, unity, and prayer.

Ordinances
  • We recognize two ordinances given by Christ to the church:
    • Baptism: It’s a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ and symbolizes the believer’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

    • The Lord’s Supper: It’s a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice and a proclamation of His death until He returns.

Marriage, Sex, & Identity
  • We affirm that marriage is a sacred covenant established and ordained by God. Marriage was designed and intended by God to be a faithful, exclusive, and lifelong union between one biological man and one biological woman, two sexes assigned by God and determined at conception. This covenant relationship reflects God’s design for companionship, family, and the flourishing of human society. Within this covenant, husband and wife are called to love, honor, and serve one another in mutual commitment, faithfulness, and submission. Biblical marriage calls men to lead with sacrificial love, honor, respect, service, care, and spiritual guidance. We further believe that marriage serves as a profound reflection of the relationship between Christ and His church, holding spiritual and social significance. God designed sexual intimacy to be expressed only within the covenant of a monogamous marriage between a husband and wife. Sexual relationships outside of this covenant—any sexual immorality contrary to biblical teaching like homosexuality, polygamy, incest, bestiality, adultery, and fornication—are not consistent with God’s design for human flourishing. In addition, we believe that intentionally altering or changing one’s sex, or choosing to live as a sex different from the one assigned by God at conception, constitutes a rejection of God’s design and purpose as Creator. It reflects a personal refusal of His plan to glorify Himself through the sex He has assigned to each individual. In doing so, it also violates the commandment, “Thou shalt not covet.” We are called not to envy or desire what belongs to others. The desire to possess what someone else has reveals dissatisfaction with what God has given and ordained for each person and demonstrates a form of jealousy toward those who possess something different. We unapologetically affirm and uphold the biblical definition of marriage and sex independent of how culture seeks to redefine biblical truths.

Sanctity of Human Life
  • We affirm that all human beings are created in the image and likeness of God. Every person possesses inherent dignity, value, and worth because they are made in the image of their Creator (Imago Dei). Human life is therefore sacred and deserving of honor and protection. We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being created by God. Scripture affirms God's knowledge and care for human life even in the womb, which declares that God forms and knows each person before birth. Because every human being bears the image of God, the church affirms the sanctity and value of all human life, including the unborn, the elderly, the vulnerable, and those with disabilities, standing firmly against abortion, euthanasia, and any other voluntary end-of-life decision. Every human life should be protected and treated with dignity, compassion, and respect from conception until natural death.

Resurrection to Heaven or Hell
  • We believe in the resurrection of the dead. Those who belong to Christ will dwell forever in the presence of God in the new creation, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God. We affirm the reality of both heaven and hell as the final and eternal destinies of humanity. Heaven is the dwelling place of God and the eternal home prepared for those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. Through the saving work of Christ, believers are forgiven of their sins, reconciled to God, and granted eternal life, where they will dwell forever in the presence of God, experiencing perfect joy, peace, righteousness, and fellowship with Him. Believers will be resurrected, transformed, and will inherit the new heavens and new earth forever. Heaven represents the ultimate fulfillment of God's redemptive plan, where sin, suffering, and death will no longer exist. Hell is a real and eternal place of judgment prepared for Satan, his angels, and all who reject the grace of God offered through Jesus Christ. Those who persist in unbelief and refuse the salvation provided through Christ will face the righteous judgment of God and eternal separation from His presence. Hell represents the final consequence of sin and rebellion against God. While God desires that all come to repentance, come to the knowledge of truth, and be saved, He will ultimately judge sin with perfect justice and righteousness. In the end, all will stand before God to give an account. Those who accepted Christ, repented, and believed will enter eternal life in the presence of God, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation and judgment.

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
  • There is a variety of spiritual gifts to build, empower, inspire, and strengthen the church and the body of believers. These gifts are given and granted by the grace and extraordinary power of the Holy Spirit, operating in believers to serve one another, but always with the understanding that they should operate in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters.
